TOS/Continuous Improvement Manager

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing East is looking for qualified candidates to fill a Continuous Improvement Manager position. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the organizational transformation to Lean Manufacturing by utilizing lean manufacturing tools and by consistent application of team based approaches. Specific Duties: Coaching and training of teams and individuals to improve their effectiveness and systematic use of Lean Tools, Problem Solving - Diagnose problems and lead teams to the development of permanent solution, Facilitator - Ensuring that teams have the needed resources, access to sponsors, and help from outside the team. Reporting Results / Driving Change – Assisting teams to develop measures, quantify results, determine actions and track progress. Celebrate Success - Ensuring that teams are properly recognized and that all improvements are reported and recorded; communicating results to all employees and management on a frequent basis. Networking - Participating in Lean Manufacturing networks, training, and roundtables. Experience, Skills and Education: BS in engineering or related discipline with manufacturing engineering background and six (6) years experience. - or - Without BS degree, a minimum of associates’ degree in a related technical field plus ten (10) years related work experience in a manufacturing engineering discipline. Excellent communication skills - written and oral; Active Listener; Skilled at group presentations. Strong knowledge of manufacturing, machining and assembly processes. Strong analytical skills / Ability to generate solutions to technical problems - Must demonstrate an effective and disciplined approach to problem solving. A commitment to continuous learning. Experience or significant exposure to continuous improvement principles and/or lean manufacturing. Project Management Experience - Demonstrated ability to get teams and individuals to take action, without direct authority over them. Viewed by others as a change agent. High level of enthusiasm and energy / Ability to multi task.
