Research Associate 1 for The Ohio State University, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio. Duties: develop, plan, and conduct plant science and agricultural research related to gene construct design, tracking, and introduction into target tissues; conduct experiments; characterize plant promoters through green fluorescent protein transient expression and hairy roots systems; analyze and interpret research results, including bioinformatic analysis; procure necessary supplies and equipment and monitor laboratory chemical and material inventories; supervise undergraduate students in the lab; prepare research progress reports; assist with compilation, analysis, and preparation and presentation of data for conference presentations and journal publications; assist and interact with faculty, research staff, and students in the lab. Requirements: M.S. in Plant Pathology or related field; one year of experience in plant-related research, transgenic plants and plant tissue, and gene introduction and expression; ability to translate, adapt, and apply knowledge to the conduct of biological research in plant science or plant pathology as demonstrated by research publications or conference abstracts or presentations; requires successful completion of a background check. (All experience and ability to translate, adapt and apply knowledge may have been gained concurrently and/or concurrently with education. Experience may have been part-time.)
